Gerhard Ittner, not only an Autodrom Most legend, dies

13.12.2017 07:34

Mr. Gerhard Ittner passed away at the age of 75 years on 7th December after a long, hard illness. He was a legend, mentor and exemplar, and above all, a fellow and friend. At the Most Motor-racing Circuit, he acted as a Czech-German interpreter at first, and entered a permanent job as a sports officer there in early 1995. Gradually, he rose to become the company's motorsport director, a position he held until 2007. However, he never contemplated retirement. Instead, he continued to help develop Autodrom's activities as a sports manager until 31st December 2015.

Gerhard Ittner was very active in the field of motorsport. Apart from his matter of the heart – Autodrom Most –, he held many more positions. He was a long-time prominent licensed official of the federations of the automobile and motorcycle sports, an honorary member of the FIM Europe Road Racing Commission, the president of the Road Racing Commission in the ACCR (the Autoclub of the Czech Republic), a race steward and the president of the Circuit Racing Commission of the Federation of the Automobile Sport, ACCR.

Last year, Gerhard Ittner was awarded a Garnet Lion badge by the ACCR at its general assembly in its utmost appreciation of his services and long-time dedication to motorsport. This way, Gerhard Ittner has joined other outstanding laureates such as Eliška Junková, a former Czech female racing driver and the fastest woman in the world of her day, or František Šťastný, a phenomenal motorcycle racer.

Gerhard Ittner is survived by his wife. Together, they brought up a son and took delight in their three grandchildren. The devoted motorsport fan and ambassador's funeral ceremony will be held within the family circle.

The AUTODROM MOST company management as well as all of its employees express their condolences to Gerhard Ittner's family. May he rest in peace!
