Historic vehicles to rally at Most in May

The weekend of 12–14 May will be marked by celebration of the history of the automotive industry at Most. Part of the inaugural Most Historic Grand Prix race on the Autodrom main circuit will be a reunion of historic car owners who will exhibit their polished vintage cars in front of the visitors’ eager eyes on the Polygon grounds. Cars and motorcycles of many different makes and ages will be on public display on condition that no machine may be younger than thirty years.

A historic car crew taking part in the reunion will receive two grandstand tickets that also admit the holders to the pits. Moreover, they can look forward to style refreshment and to a meeting with legendary personalities of motor sport. “The crews can also join a record attempt in the greatest possible number of historic cars on the race track at the same moment. This show will take place after the last Sunday race. The reunion participants in their historic cars will form up in a line behind the pace car and complete a parade lap around the track,” said AUTODROM MOST Event Manager Veronika Raková.

People interested in the reunion can register by means of an entry form available here. The completed entry forms are to be sent to the e-mail address rakova@autodrom-most.cz or to the postal address Ing. Veronika Raková, Hořanská cesta 205, CZ-434 01 Most. Additional information about the reunion is also available at telephone number +420 702 143 084.

According to Ms. Raková, the Most Historic Grand Prix promises an unusual experience. In addition to the races themselves, where even the team facilities in the service zone will be freely accessible to all spectators with an option to learn in detail the racing machines typical for the relevant period, the visitors can look forward to a varied programme of side events. The schedule includes a popular aerobatic show among other things.

“On the Polygon grounds, the visitors can liven up their viewing of the historic cars by a passenger session choosing between a historic car and a specially built off-road vehicle. We’ll also offer helicopter sightseeing flights. Of course, we bear in mind our youngest visitors whose base will be placed on the children’s traffic-drill playground where they’ll enjoy a very interesting entertaining programme. All over the grounds, the visitors will find an assorted selection of food and beverages including both alcoholic and soft drinks,” said Raková.

The Event Manager pointed out that the paddock and the race track are connected with the spectator bank and the adjacent Polygon area via a pedestrian subway that is, however, without access for disabled persons. A walk between the two sides takes up to seven minutes.

Those owners who bring their vintage cars on trailers can leave them inside the complex and use the reserved space behind the entrance to the Polygon ground. “The owner can place his caravan or service car beside his exhibited vehicle but he must follow the organisers’ instructions. The reunion participants may also sleep in their caravans. Again, the caravans or tents must be placed so that they may not upset the exhibition unity,” Raková added.

The main race within the Most Historic Grand Prix is the FIA Lurani Trophy designed for Junior Formula cars from the 1950s and 1960s. The participants compete for a European title. Furthermore, a separate race will see cars united in the Historic Grand Prix Cars Association. These cars used to take part in the 1930–1960 and 1961–1965 Grands Prix. British Grand Turismo cars will delight the spectators in a Triumph Competition and British HTGT race. The field includes famous MG, Morgan, Triumph, Lotus and other GT cars. An ADAC HAIGO cup race will offer battles between open-wheel cars and touring cars that used to compete in the Peace and Friendship Cup involving former socialist countries, namely Formula Easter, Mondial and Škoda, VAZ Zhiguli, Melkus, Trabant and more touring cars.

Also added to the varied race weekend programme is a regularity rally entered by Czech racing cars where specially built works cars and in particular individually constructed vehicles will be seen.

Autodrom already sells tickets for the May historic car races

The company AUTODROM MOST has already offered tickets for one of its highlight events on this year’s calendar, which is the Most Historic Grand Prix held over the weekend of 12–14 May. Those interested can order their tickets on the Autodrom web site, section FAN SHOP, or buy them personally at the reception desk of the Polygon office building.

Polygon offers a bonus to the first hundred fans to buy a ticket. “Each of them will receive a free wall calendar with photographs featuring motor sport. At the same time, this is an invitation to the races we run this year. In the respective month, the calendar always notifies race weekends with colour highlighted date, the name of the particular event and a corresponding picture,” said Jana Svobodová, Autodrom Business and Marketing Manager.
