Circuit open day – traditional entertainment and experience

30.09.2011 08:58

Only rarely can people experience what motorsport fans and supporters of the Most circuit felt when they had their very first opportunity to thoroughly examine the heart of the circuit and to drive on their local track. These traditional events, organized in early spring and autumn, always attract a wide range of visitors. This year the event is being prepared for the public and is scheduled for Saturday 22 October from 09 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“This year we want to allow our fans to thoroughly check the premises from the inside and to drive on the track and get to know it from the perspective of the drivers whom they support from the visitors’ hill and the stands”, advised Michal Marek, the Sports Director for the circuit.

Of course, he immediately noted some of the constrictions associated with holding such an event. Naturally, the circuit cannot be responsible for those individuals who intentionally flout basic safety rules. “Our visitors drive standard series-production vehicles which are simply not designed or adapted for racing, drifting or other tricks. Motor racing lovers with a special racing car will certainly be able to schedule a date for testing their car outside of public hours. Inexperienced drivers on the circuit could react dangerously to the presence of a special racing car and an incident-free event is our goal. Whenever possible, driving on the circuit is well-ordered, the rear driver is always responsible, driving is only allowed for licensed drivers and of course, no alcohol or drugs are permitted; a 30 kph speed limit applies to driving outside of the circuit, i.e. in the paddock,” added Marek.

He added that a further element to motivate safe driver behaviour is the fact that motor liability insurance does not cover accidents on closed circuits; the insurance covers only normal road traffic.

“The basic rules of behaviour are described in the leaflet and no driver will receive entry coupons to the circuit without first signing the leaflet. Ten minutes can be driven per one 120 CZK coupon and in total, we allow a maximum of 20 vehicles on the track at the same time. Of course, the turnout on the track is higher during races but we assume that experienced and licenced racers will not attend this event. After all, let me repeat that racing is not the prime reason of this day. We will be happy to show visitors the circuit facilities, press centre, and control room; souvenirs, refreshments and promotional materials will be on sale. Finally, we are all looking forward to a great meeting to mark the end of the season. I trust the open day will be fully enjoyed by all,” concluded Marek.
