Fast karts to be accompanied by Formula 3s and Specials from DTM
The Most Motor Racing Circuit is preparing for the second event of the year. A weekend full of superfast kart timed training sessions and races with the CIK - FIA European Superkart Championship. Another act of the International Championship of Czech Republic will also take place for Formula 3 and Touring Car Division 4 racing. The weekend will be even more attractive as the touring cars will not only participate in Saturday's three-hour endurance competition, but also in two sprints - one on Friday and the other on Sunday.
"This is because of the regulations established by the Federation of Autosport of the Autoclub of Czech Republic," explained Michal Marek, the sports director of the Most circuit . "To ensure the full value of this year's championship, the prescribed number of sprint and endurance races must be completed. The number of sprints was not right, therefore a decision was made to add one thirteen-lap race for the classes up to, and over, two litres" he added.
The weekend definitely promises very attractive racing. Small and hellishly fast bonneted karts made their introduction to Most in May, and more than enough adrenalin will be displayed again this time. The only Czech representative, Michal Bartak, will fight side by side with the Europe's elite; he successfully scored points in the first race in May by finishing in fifth place, but unfortunately his machine betrayed him in the second race.
He will surely want to improve his reputation in June, and there is no doubt the local fans will provide him with the adequate motivation. Swiss pilot Stefan Malm is another member of the MS Kart Racing Team with Bartak. Once again a total 45 racers with 11 different nationalities will take part in the European Superkart Championship, which prospectively is a truly thrilling experience.
The Formula 3 Division will have its third event of the year in Most, and similarly to the F 1 class, where Jenson Button has ruled since the season's beginning, Zbynek Passer has not found a rival in the Czech school formula. He will harness a Van Diemen monoposto with a Kawasaki motorcycle engine, under the flag of the Chomutov team, Chabr Motorsport. However, surprises can not be ruled out. The starting roster of this formula class, limited by a 1,400cc engine capacity, has been sort of wasting away lately. There have been no more than ten machines on the starting line; this year the number of applications reached 13. The two timed training sessions and two races will be big attractions at the racing circuit in Most this weekend.
The Royal Touring Car Division 4 will be represented by the most frequently sighted category. As has been mentioned earlier, the qualifications will take place on Friday for the first round of sprint races for the classes up to, and over, two litres. The races are organized on Friday afternoon. Timed training sessions for the afternoon endurance race will be held on Saturday afternoon; the race will start at 3:00 pm and finish at 6:00 pm. Further timed training sessions for both classes will take place on Sunday morning for the second round of sprints, which will come after the noon break. Readers should be reminded of the well-known fact that specials from DTM dominate the class over two litres, and Audi and Mercedes are duelling here in the same unforgiving manner as in the German touring car championship. The weekend will be even more attractive thanks to the participation of former and current active DTM racers Stefan Mucke, Tomas Kostka and Christian Bakkerud, and the brightest star of circuit racing, former Formula 1 pilot Tomas Enge. The former minister of industry and trade, Milan Urban, will be seen behind the wheel of his predatory Lamborghini Gallardo, and the list of celebrities can be completed with Austrian skiing champion, Patrik Ortlieb, who will drive a Porsche 997 in the GT3 Cup.
