Racing trucks rumble coming to the town of Most again
The biggest event of the racing season on Most circuit is here again. On 27.-29. August Autodrom Most will welcome the top of European truck racing. Renault Trucks – Czech Truck Prix 2010 deserves its reputation of the principal race of this year's competition. FIA European Truck Racing Championship has a strong tradition right here in Most. Though the races of these six ton giants have had many names since, the first time when the roaring of their motors could be heard under Hněvín castle was back in 1992. There was a trial race then, followed by a full-fledged event of the European championship only a year later.
This means it is the 18th time this year when Czech fans of motorsports will have the chance to watch this racing, which is very different from that offered by traditional combats of motorbikes, cars or open-wheel cars. Calling it a “Czech audience” is not quite accurate, because specifically the truck races won't be missed by virtually tens of thousands of visitors from all over Europe. The biggest part of foreign supporters probably comes from our neighboring Germany, but whole groups of British, Spanish or French fans are no exception either.
As is the tradition here, the list of pilots is rich and includes renowned names from previous seasons. Domestic supporters will definitely watch closely the defending double European champion David Vršecký, who after five events of this year's championship is still searching effective weapons to fight his rivals. He is fourth in the championship standings as yet with the fervid Spaniard Antonio Albacete taking the lead. The Spanish pilot has collected many victories in Most. You will also have the chance to see on our racetrack such famous pilots as Jochen Hahn, Markus Östreich, Chris Levett, Markus Bösiger and we should not forget another Czech pilot, Adam Lacko. The young man, who comes from Frenštát, has tried out just about everything on racing circuits starting from karting and Octavia Cups through GT and DTM specification cars to finally enter the heavyweight category this year. He tames his yellow MAN in Egon Allgäuer stable and does so successfully. So far he is seventh in the standings.
But the truck racing weekend in Most offers also other concurrent races, which are bound to captivate the hearts of motorsports seekers. There is Česká pojišťovna – Octavia Cup, which has new promoters but did not lose a bit from its attractiveness. At the beginning of August the racers of this Cup demonstrated a truly flawless show of elegant cars, technical balance and driving excellence on our circuit. It is the principles of cup competition and strictly controlled technical identity of the cars which ensures genuinely contact racing and highly dramatic course of the race.
There are two more categories on the program, though: Sports Car Challenge featuring sports cars, open-wheel cars and prototypes, an alternative to the legendary Interseries; and Northern European Cup featuring 2.0L Renault formulas. They, too, are bound to offer high quality motorsports show.
When you take all this and add our traditional attractions on the spectators slope, Sunday noon adrenaline show with stunt men, drifters and aerobatics, then only one thing more can be said – you will miss a lot if you skip the Renault Trucks – Czech Truck Prix!
