The twenty-sixth season is starting

The Most Motor Racing Circuit is on the brink of the next motor sport season, inviting all friends of fast wheels to attend the introductory event, which will be the Česká pojišťovna – Škoda Octavia Weekend between 15 and 17 May 2009. After last year's successful season, when the circuit in Most celebrated a quarter century of its existence, there is another motor year full of attractive and thrilling races.

It's become a tradition in Most to organize the initial event of the season in the name of the popular Octavia Cup. This year is the thirteenth in a row, and the very first part of the Spring Cup series on the Masaryk Racing Circuit in Brno proved that it has not have lost any of the drama. Twenty technically identical cars will put up an even fight in Most, too. The principle of equal technical conditions gives the Octavia races a huge impetus, as the success actually depends solely on the pilots' skills. The first race in Brno was won by absolute beginner Milan Kusý. The second race was dominated by the oldest participant and two-time winner from 1997 and 1999, František Došek.
However, there are other interesting categories included in the programme, the most spectacular one being the European Superracekart Series. Bonneted go-karts that have no problem attacking two-hundred-kilometre-an-hour barrier will race two laps and promise a truly thrilling sight. There are forty registered racers in the preliminary starting lists, which is a guarantee of an adrenaline experience for the spectators.
Complete continuation of the International Championship of the Czech Republic in circuit races is included in the schedule. A Formula 3 division will be presented, which incorporates the National formula category with an engine capacity up to 1400 ccm. Division 4 has been organized for passenger cars, providing the prospect of the most suspenseful race. There are dozens of racers registered, and in addition to the Sunday sprint, the traditional Saturday three-hour endurance race has been announced. This one represents possibly the most attractive offer for the spectators, with an atmosphere buzzing with excitement. The vehicles enter the pits during the marathon to change racers, fill the tanks and change the tyres. Along with the speed, a correct strategy and lightning-speed decision making play significant roles.
The very first venue in Brno hinted that specials from the legendary German series DTM will lead the dance, and once again fierce struggle between Audi and Mercedes is expected. However, there are other attractive sports cars to be seen on the roster, such as Porsche, BMW, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Saleen, or Corvette.
To make it short - the fully charged weekend program guarantees lots of experiences for motor sport enthusiasts. As usually the schedule starts at 9:00 am every day. Training and races continue until 6:00 pm Friday to Sunday.
