Anyone who visits the Autodrom Most circuit will witness a new track record!

It has been clear since the Friday practice sessions underwent by the modern-day MAXX Formula single-seaters that the Autodrom Most motor racing circuit will see a new track record after eleven years.  The MAXX Formula series is one of five support series that liven up the Czech Truck Prix, an FIA European Truck Racing Championship event hosted for the twenty-eighth time at the Most circuit this weekend.

The attractive series, with its first visit to the Czech Republic, involves the modern-day Formula One, GP2, F3000 and Indycar open-wheelers manufactured between the 1990s and 2010. The spectators can look forward to beautiful and powerful Arrows F1, Super Aguri SA-06, F1 Sauber C29, and SuperLeague Formula machines. The starting grid includes Veronika Jaksch in a Dallara GP2, the only female racing driver in the field representing the Czech Republic.

“During the very first practice, three drivers broke the existing record in the car category set up by the German Stefan Mücke in May 2009. Then he set the fastest lap in 1m25.610s driving a Mercedes C-Klasse DTM. But we have to wait for a new record until the Saturday and Sunday flying laps because only records achieved in official races are valid. Whoever is still hesitating to visit the circuit is making a mistake. After all, when else will there be another chance to watch such untamable monster cars while battling for the best time?” says Jindřich Hrneček, the AUTODROM MOST company sporting director, attracting spectators.

On Friday, there were free and timed practice sessions for the participants in the other support series, which are Renault Clio Cup Central Europe with another Czech great white hope and last year’s winner, Tomáš Pekař, then the Seyffarth Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup, Tourenwagen Legenden, and Tourenwagen Revival.

Of course, five-tonne racing truck tamers were also present at the track capturing the fans’ most attention. Naturally, the home crowd favours Adam Lacko, the 2017 European champion. His team, Buggyra Racing, has brought in a new signing this season, namely the nineteen-year-old French talent Téo Calvet as well as an even younger gun, three years his junior: team owner Martin Koloc’s daughter, Aliyyah. However, it won’t be easy at all for Adam against strong competition headed by Jochen Hahn, a six-time European champion.

This year’s European Truck Racing Championship is supposed to be made up of only six events. Unlike the original plan, races at the Nürburgring in Germany and at the Slovakia Ring have been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. As a result, the Czech Truck Prix is the first event held this season. If there are no unpredictable circumstances, Most is to be followed by Zolder, Belgium (on 12th and 13th September), Jarama, Spain (on 26th and 27th September), Hungaroring, Hungary (on 17th and 18th October), the famous Le Mans circuit in France (on 7th and 8th November), and Misano, Italy (on 14th and 15th November).

During this pandemic-shortened season, the Autodrom Most company will host two of its flagship race weekends. Besides the Czech Truck Prix, the European OMV MaxxMotion NASCAR Show series shall take place on 14th and 15th November instead of the original date in June.
