2020 FIA ETRC SEASON STARTS IN MOST WITH 17 DRIVERS ON THE GRID

After months of preparation the 2020 FIA ETRC season will get underway in Most next week. ETRA has worked closely with the FIA and the local organiser on a comprehensive concept following the models used in F1 and other Championships, including strict hygienic measures as well as tests and health checks for the teams and staff.

The FIA European Truck Racing Championship has today announced a provisional list of 16 full-season entries for the upcoming season, with the grid set to be bolstered by several race-by-race entrants.

Heading up the list is reigning champion and the most successful driver in FIA ETRC history, Jochen Hahn. The six-times champion who dominated the 2019 season with 13 race wins in his Team Hahn IVECO is out to defend his crown and add a seventh title to his glittering record in his all new IVECO S-WAY.

Joining his successful father on the grid in Most this year is Lukas Hahn, who will start as a race-by-race entry. Lukas had his first outing at the ADAC Truck Grand Prix at the Nürburgring last year where he finished on the podium in three races.

Three other previous champions will line up alongside Hahn on the grid, with Antonio Albacete who will race for newly formed T Sport Bernau, Adam Lacko (Buggyra Racing) and Norbert Kiss with the new Révész TRT team, who will all be eager to add more wins to their names.

Arguably the most successful female racing driver currently competing in an FIA championship, Team Schwabentruck driver Steffi Halm has a huge following of fans and will be aiming to better her fourth place finish in the 2019 points table.

Consistent points scorer Sascha Lenz will be looking to add to his podium tally in what will be the fifth FIA ETRC season for the SL Trucksport 30 driver.

René Reinert will be keen to build on his successful 2019 season, where after switching to a Team Hahn Racing-built IVECO, he scored 3 race wins and finished seventh overall.

Don’t Touch Racing driver André Kursim has made constant progress from season to season, scoring two race wins in 2019, and will be eager to add more victories to his name.

British driver Jamie Anderson will be looking for glory in the Promoters Cup after finishing runner up in 2019 with a remarkable 12 category wins to his name.

Frenchman Anthony Janiec is returning for a full season to the FIA ETRC with Lion Truck Racing.

Luis Recuenco, who had an excellent second season in the Promoters Cup last year, taking four victories and being in the title mix right until the penultimate round, returns to the grid in his eye-catching green and white MAN.

German driver Steffen Faas will be back for a full season with the new Tankpool24 Racing team in a brand new SCANIA racing truck.

After making his FIA ETRC debut at the Nürburgring last year, German racer Clemens Hecker will enter his first full season in 2020.

Two young drivers will join the ETRC grid this season: 16-year old and youngest ever FIA ETRC entrant Aliyyah Koloc and 19-year old French racer Téo Calvet will join the field with Buggyra racing.

Talented rising star Koloc has already driven in circuit racing and Dakar trucks and tested with different categories within Buggyra. She also gained some truck racing experience when testing the Buggyra Freightliners at Most. The Czech racer made headlines in June, when she surpassed two world records in top speed on 500 metres with a standing and a rolling start

Téo Calvet is well-known to the FIA ETRC after two very promising outings with the Lion Truck Racing squad at the Nürburgring in 2018 and 2019. On both occasions, the son of former racer and noted truck racing administrator and promoter Fabien Calvet, scored impressive podium finishes.

"We would like to thank the teams and drivers for their dedication and professionalism,” said Rolf Werner, managing director at ETRA. “It’s great to see that so many teams have committed to our championship this season. The grid looks exceptionally competitive and promises to see some exciting action. We look forward to finally go racing again."
