For the first time in history, Autodrom Most will welcome World Championship

Autodrom Most put itself on the map of the famous racing circuits, which organizes WorldSBK rounds. The premiere will take place on the weekend of 6th to 8th of August 2021, as a replacement for Australian round, which was postponed to 2022 due to Covid-19 situation. Automotoklub Most, which is an organizer of the race weekend WorldSBK Czech Round, signed five-year contract. Fans can look forward for fights of elite riders in one of the most watched world events of motorsport world until 2025 at Autodrom Most.

According to Mr.Josef Zajíček, Chairman of the Board of AUTODROM MOST, signing of the five-year contract between Automotoklub Most (member of Autoklub ČR) and championship promoter, is another move in quality of events, that the race track wants to offer to all motorsport fans.  

“This is a milestone and a unique event during Autodrom’s history of almost 40 years. We are becoming organisers of World Championship races for the first time. This fact places demanding technical and   organisational requirements on us. Nevertheless, we are happy to take up this challenge. Our objective is to open our complex to the general public, which is why we have to offer   the best-quality events possible to our racing fans. And the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship indisputably belongs to such events. We will make sure that the riders, teams, partners, sponsors as well as spectators may be absolutely satisfied with us and look forward to the next edition of this fantastic display of powerful machines and brave riders.” Said Josef Zajíček.

Organisation of the world-stage event was also allowed thanks to accomodating approach of the government of the Czech republic, specifically Ministry of Local development and National Sporting Agency, which is central office for support of the sport, tourism and sport representation of the state. „Both institutions commoted to moral and financial support. I would like to thank to Minister, who is by a heart a big fan of motorcycle sport. She took important part in negotiation about the support, which was approved by Prime Minister. A big thanks to him also. National Sporting Agency, together with its Chairman, also faced this as a challenge. Everyone is doing maximum for success,“ said president of the Autoklub of the Czech Republic (ACCR) Jan Šťovíček.

According to the CEO of the WorldSBK Gregorio Lavilla, new circuit is great addition to the schedule “We are thrilled to welcome the Autodrom Most to our calendar for the next five seasons. Today’s announcement that WorldSBK is set to return to the Czech Republic for the first time since 2018 reflects the continuing popularity of the Championship among the Czech fans. With Czech teams and riders within the paddock, this is a great opportunity to showcase the Czech Republic on a world stage and I trust the Autodrom Most will be hosting exciting events in the future,” said Lavilla.

Personal credit goes also to Jan Šťovíček, who is member of the board of International motorcycle federation (FIM). „As Autoklub of Czech Republic, national sporting authority, I am very glad, that our fans can witness home race of world class. I am also very glad, that I could contribute. It is also a benefit for promoter of WorldSBK. To get new circuit with interesting layout and skilled organizing crew is not easy in these days,“ he said.

The importance of World Championship race in Czech republic is also outlined by Matěj Smrž, chairman of the commision and vice-president of the ACCR for kids and children activities. „Possibility to watch the best riders in the world on our home circuit is the best motivation for potential new riders,“ he said.

August race at Most will be the sixth race of this year’s WorldSBK calendar. All three world classes will race there, and will be joined by Yamaha R3 bLU cRU. In WorldSSP300 class, home fans will cheer two Czech riders – Peter Svoboda and Oliver König.

Autodrom Most is located just one hour drive from Czech capital Prague. Its construction was finished in 1983 as the first Czechoslovakian permanent race track. Many International races were hosted by the venue, including national and International motorcycle races. 2021 season will be highlighted by addition of the WorldSBK championship. Autodrom Most fulfills its obligation to be representative part of sporting, social and cultural life of the region. Race weekend will be live streamed by TV station Nova on Nova Sport channel.
