Munich: Another outfit will make its debut in the ADAC GT Masters this year, Team ISR. Frank Stippler (42/DEU) and Filip Salaquarda (34/CZ) have been signed to drive the team’s Audi R8 LMS. The Super Sports Car League will get the new season underway at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben on the weekend of 13th–15th April. SPORT1 will broadcast all races live and in full length.

Team ISR team was founded by Igor Salaquarda in 1993. The Czech team switched to GT racing in 2014 after achieving success in open-wheel racing, with a number of drivers, including current Formula 1 drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Alex Rossi and this year’s rookie at Williams, Sergey Sirotkin. Team ISR are now all set to line up for the first time in the ADAC GT Masters, fielding an Audi R8 LMS.

Audi Sport driver Frank Stippler and Filip Salaquarda, the Team Principal’s son, will drive for the team based in the Prague area. They have both already had plenty of experience driving the Audi R8 LMS in recent years, often even as teammates. Stippler, winner of the 2012 ADAC Zurich 24-hour race at the Nürburgring, made his debut in the ADAC GT Masters in 2008 and has secured one win so far. Teammate Salaquarda contested his first season in the series in 2017.

“It’s very exciting for our outfit to be competing in the ADAC GT Masters in 2018,” said team boss Igor Salaquarda. “The Audi R8 LMS is an exceptional car, and our two drivers are very experienced. We will have to face the challenge of unknown circuits together with very strong rivals, but we are motivated not to waste any opportunity and to show our speed right from the beginning of the season.”

Team ISR are one of five new teams joining the ADAC GT Masters along with AutoArena Motorsport, EFP by TECE, Honda Racing and TEAM RING POLICE.
