The FIA Masters to bring more than single-seaters from the golden age of Formula One to Autodrom

Autodrom Most will follow up this year’s premiere of battles fought by glorious historic touring cars and Grand Prix cars so popular with spectators by the second edition of the Most Historic Grand Prix race weekend next year. The event will take place from 22nd to 24th June. This is another significant event confirmed on the 2018 AUTODROM MOST race calendar after the Czech Truck Prix counted towards the FIA European Truck Racing Championship, which will be held for the twenty-sixth time at Most early in September. Moreover, the spectators can look forward to a pleasant surprise.

“We managed to come to an agreement with the promoter of the FIA Masters Historic Formula One Championship, which involves single seaters falling into the golden era of Formula One and competing at the best-known racing circuits in Europe and the world from the late 1960s until 1985. The spectators will be able to admire the original machines that used to be driven by global stars such as Jackie Stewart, Emerson Fittipaldi, Niki Lauda and James Hunt,” said Jana Svobodová, the Autodrom Most Business and Marketing Manageress.

Besides the shiny Formula open-wheel cars, it is certainly more beautiful veteran cars representing four series popular all over Europe that will bask in the motoring enthusiasts’ adulation: namely the FIA Masters Historic Sports Car Championship, Gentlemen Drivers Pre-66 GT, Masters Pre-66 Touring Cars and the popular HAIGO, which involves single-seaters and touring cars that used to take part in the former Peace and Friendship Cup of Socialist Countries. “The number of series is not yet definite. We are still negotiating with the promoters,” Svobodová added.

A part of the Most Historic Grand Prix will be a traditionally varied supporting programme. Veteran car lovers and fans are sure to appreciate a reunion of historic car owners held at the spectator bank on the Polygon grounds. The proud owners will also display their beloved cars and drive them on parade laps around the track on both Saturday and Sunday. “Last year, there were close to 150 veteran cars and also motorcycles and Velorex three-wheelers. The oldest exhibit was a Praga Piccolo dating from 1926 and, among motorcycles, a BSA S 30, just four years younger. Given the very positive response, it seems likely that there will be even more participants this time,” said Veronika Raková, the Autodrom Most Event Manageress.

The spectators can also look forward to an aerobatic show above the Autodrom race track, an autograph session with drivers and motor sport celebrities. The starting grid, pit lane and service zone will be freely accessible to the public. And an inherent part of the show will be the popular passenger rides.

It is possible to take an active part in the weekend at Autodrom having a ride on the go-kart track, quad bike track or in a specially built all-terrain vehicle on the off-road track. Autodrom also bears in mind its youngest visitors. Children can enjoy their time on the children’s traffic-drill playground with functional traffic lights. They can borrow bicycles, scooters, balance bicycles or helmets free of charge. The programme will include leisure attractions and games among other things.

An adult ticket for Saturday or Sunday costs 290 crowns. Children under the height of 130 cm are given free entrance whereas taller children and teenagers under the age of 18 year shall pay 90 crowns. Tickets are sold on-line in the VSTUPENKY (TICKETS) section on the Autodrom website. For more information on the Most Historic Grand Prix, click here.
