The Most CLASSIC 2023: Two automotive gems share the trophy for elegance

The Most CLASSIC automotive festival attracted thousands of visitors and vintage car owners last weekend, offering a colourful exhibition and vintage car races. Among the fans, President Petr Pavel visited the Most Autodrom. In the end, the victory in the elegance competition was shared by the unique Talbot-Lago T26 Figoni et Falaschi (1948) and the equally rare Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS (1946).

What sets The Most CLASSIC Automobile Festival apart from other events is that, in addition to meeting and exhibiting, owners of vintage cars can enjoy a ride on the polygon track or directly on the big circuit. In addition, the entire festival is accompanied by the Austrian Histo Cup racing series, which includes historic car races in several categories.

The car festival kicked off on Friday, with participants enjoying the track of the large bridge circuit all morning. In the afternoon, they set off on a Scenic Drive along the most beautiful roads of the Ore Mountains, and the route ended with a super test of regularity on the polygon track. "Friday's programme was reserved for a smaller group of participants interested in more track time and riding, while Saturday was conceived as the main festival day for the general public," says Radek Laube, one of the organisers of The Most CLASSIC, describing the concept of the event.

During Saturday, the Histo Cup races were mainly on the track, while the exhibition and regularity races were held on the polygon. The fans, who numbered close to 10,000 over the weekend, also had the opportunity to see the racing paddock. In addition to the individual cars on display, the car clubs were also on display, with the arrival of the 22 Scuderia Praha Ferrari Classiche cars attracting the most attention. The Czech Porsche club (27 club cars), Alpine Cars Praha, or a group of American Dodge Viper cars were also represented in large numbers. In addition to the 120 Histo Cup race cars, the fans could admire 320 cars of the registered participants.

The accompanying programme was also rich, with interviews with car collectors and owners on the main ENGINE Stage during the day, and at 3 p.m. two historic aircraft greeted the spectators with a low flypast. One of the highlights of the day was the announcement of the elegance competition, when an expert jury selected five finalists, which were then presented to the audience by the owners themselves. The finalists were the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider (1957) from the Portu Gallery, Marcel Renec's Alfa Romeo GTA 1300 (1968), a Škoda 110 R from the collection of the ŠKODA Museum in Mladá Boleslav and, of course, Robert Kudela's world-renowned Talbot-Lago T26 Grand Sport Figoni et Falaschi (1948). The surprise of the show was one of the three surviving Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS (1946), loaned to the exhibition by the French owner in cooperation with the Czech Shelby's garage.

Due to the uniqueness of the last two cars, the jury decided to award two main prizes and the original trophy with a glass asphalt imprint from the finish line of Autodrom Most went to Talbot and Alfa 6C. In addition, the jury awarded a special prize to Marcel Renc's Alfa Romeo GTA 1300, which received a gift from the Czech watch manufactory ROBOT.

"I am very happy that the event was a success and we will work hard on its further development until next year. We are pleased with how many people came and how much interest the event aroused. Personally, I am also a big fan of vintage cars, and that is why our activities in this direction are not limited to the autodrom," says Josef Zajíček, Chairman of the Board of Autodrom Most, who during the weekend inaugurated the new route of the Oldtimer Express endurance ride. The ride, which last year followed in the footsteps of the Orient Express from Prague to Istanbul, will make its way to Athens, more specifically to the historic Olympia, in the spring of the 2024 Olympic year.
